ROLE PLAYING IN SECONDLIFE GOR

I wanted to take the chance to mention here that SL Gor, is very much a “Roleplay / Role Play” thing.  It involves picking a character, its story and roleplaying it.  This is seen and designated by 2 comments you will see a lot in SL Gor “IC / ICly and OOC / OOCly”.  Nothing in SL Gor is real and while the slaves might be RL Subs that does not give you the right to try to control them or vis-a-versa within the Real World.  Yes, there are SL Slaves in particular that are trying to act like and find a RL Master, this is not the norm however, and there are also those on SL Gor that refer to themselves as “Lifestylers” or Goreans that claim to act as Master’s in RL.  Whether this is actually true I can not say, but to be honest I doubt it, the World of Earth in RL has laws that stop any of us acting as we would in RL Gor on RL Earth.  Also, from a personal perspective, most of the Lifestylers I have met in SL Gor treat their slaves like princess sluts and they certainly act that way, so I doubt that you can really hold or be a Gor Lifestyler properly, and if you are to any degree, why on would you come to SL Gor.

This distinction between Roleplay or IC / ICly and RL or OOC / OOCly is very important.  Anything that happens in open chat is classified as IC / ICly and in alot of cases what happens in IMs is classified as OOC / OOCly.  Prim coin or Gorean RP Coin is classified as IC / ICly and Lindens are classified as OOC / OOCly.  If you end up on sim / city / village where they choose to sell you for Linden dollars, you should immediately leave.  How can you sell somebody else Avatar in this way at all, and yes there are some sims / cities that do this type of crap.  As it is RP then they have no right to sell you as a slave using Lindens.

All that said, remember that what is occurring is simply Roleplay, it is not real, and as a slave or Free  you have “Chosen the Role” you have decided to play in SL Gor.  You need to act within the Gorean perspective based on that Role.  As a wise man once said to me “It is your Character, Your Story and your RP, if anybody tries to tell you what to do with either, tell them to fuck off.”  I have to agree with this, there are far too many that try to have you RP your Character the way they want you to, rather than the way you want to RP it.  The big issue in this respect is if you choose to RP a Slave.  If you are going to RP a slave in SL Gor then be warned, your base story is fine, but your RP story over all will be what others want with regard to their interaction with you, not necessarily what you want it to be, so if you are going to RP a slave, remember this, it may only be RP, but the only real story you have over all is the originating story you come up with, not the story your character goes on with once being collared, that predominantly is directed by others.

The thing to remember in this respect is, as a wise woman once told me “It is only RP, it is not personal.”  While I tend to agree with this, one also needs to remember that there is a RL person on the end of the computer.  There will come a time when the constant “attention” placed upon somebody will become too much and be seen as “personal”.  All the comments of “its not personal” mean nothing when a person feels that it is, so be aware of this with respect to your actions being directed as a specific person.  It’s not about what you think, its about how the other person “feels” over all, that is not to say that you are responsible for how they feel, just be aware if they are starting to take it that way and concentrate on something else for a period.  This is especially important in Cities / Villages with very few members.  Small groups of people over larger groups make it much easier for people to feel as if they are being picked on or targeted constantly.

On the same topic.  The spending of Lindens by a slave when their Master is not around is an OOCly thing.  It is not for anybody to tell a slave what they can and can’t do with their RL money.  That said however, as I mention in latter training manuals, slaves should not really wear anything their master either hasn’t given to them or approved of.  Also, the purchasing of silks and items can be good RP, with the delivery of the parcel from a seamstress perhaps that has delivered some “samples” may be for the slave to try on.  In this way you can gauge your Master’s opinion of the items you buy and whether he likes them or not, he also have a choice then of whether you are permitted to wear them in his presence or not.  Nobody can tell you as a person RPing a Slave what you can and cannot buy, your master can tell you what you can and cannot wear however.
